PAID Co-design Workshop: Help Create New Mental Health Training for Young People Affected by Violence

This Summer we are looking for 3 youth groups that work with young people affected by violence to help us co-design and pilot a new training session on coping better with the mental health impacts of violence.

We recently undertook some in depth research with young people affected by violence and our youth partners, asking what new training they would like to see covered in StreetDoctors Reducing Violence Programme.

96% of the young people we worked with said they would like to know more about coping better with the trauma of witnessing or being involved in violence

To create this vital training we are now working with youth psychotherapist Marc Boaz and a group of experts. And we want youth partners and young people to play a central role in its development.

So, we are looking for 3 groups of young people with lived experience of the context of violence supported by youth groups to be a part of this. They will all be paid for their input – each youth group will be paid £150 and all young people will be paid £40, travel expenses will be paid and food provided.

They will work with Marc and StreetDoctors healthcare volunteers to develop their learning in co-designing a training session that will make a real difference to the mental health of young people affected by violence across the whole of the UK.

We are looking for 3 youth groups to host the co-design and pilot workshops in August and September. This involves providing your venue, bringing up to 15 young people to the session and being able to support your young people before and after the workshops. The workshops will be facilitated by Marc alongside StreetDoctors staff and volunteers.

These are the dates and times we need youth groups to host below. We are looking for a different youth group for each individual workshop:

If you are interested in being part of developing exciting new content to improve young people’s mental health and are available on the dates above, please contact our Youth Engagement Manager Joanna Vidal on joanna@streetdoctors.org by 30th June 2022.
