Philanthropic Fundraising Service chooses to support StreetDoctors

CIO Charity, Raise Your Hands, adds StreetDoctors to its list of charity profiles set to receive support.

It has been confirmed that CIO charity, Raise Your Hands, will support national youth charity, StreetDoctors, through providing consistent and unrestricted income.

Raise Your Hands exists to increase the influence of exceptional small charities who have proven impact and robust leadership by unlocking relationships between small charities and corporate organisations and individuals.

Raise Your Hands state that the largest 5% of charities in the UK receive 88% of income; and therefore, the CIO aims to redress this imbalance and offer unrestricted funding so smaller charities, like StreetDoctors, can build capacity and focus on what they do best.

Over the past eight years, Raise Your Hands has raised over £1,600,000 for their supported charities, and have continued to increase their growing portfolio of supporting organisations.

StreetDoctors Relationship and Investment Manager, Gerard Mitchel said: “We are grateful to Raise Your Hands for choosing to support the work of StreetDoctors. These unrestricted funds will help us to focus on our core offer of delivering life-saving knowledge and skills to young people nationally so they are empowered to keep themselves and others safe”.

Raise Your Hands Development and Partnerships Manager, Madelaine Jones said: “Raise Your Hands believes that all children and young people deserve to thrive and to have the opportunity to build fulfilling adult lives. However, the increasing prevalence of street crime in this country and the lasting trauma on young lives is having a devastating impact. That’s why, when we came across StreetDoctors, we knew we’d found a really special charity. They are not only equipping young people with the skills and confidence to provide first aid, they are making young people the heart of the solution to street crime by educating them. They’re a great addition to the Raise Your Hands family and we are very much looking forward to supporting them over the coming years!”.

Since 2008, StreetDoctors has been training young people across the UK in both the physical and psychological consequences of street violence through emergency first-aid provision.

StreetDoctors empowers young people to become part of the solution to violence through dedicated training which is delivered by a movement of over 300 young healthcare volunteers (nurses, paramedics and doctors).

Volunteers work in partnership with a wide variety of services where young people may be active: criminal justice services, schools, pupil referral units, youth, sports and community groups.

In 2024, StreetDoctors has set a new delivery record and reached over 13,566 young people nationally.
