Leading Construction Firm Glencar Partners with StreetDoctors to Equip Young People with Life-Saving Skills
Glencar, a leading construction delivery partner, has become the latest supporter of StreetDoctors, a national charity equipping young people with vital life-saving skills.
Through the Glencar Foundation, the company’s charitable arm dedicated to supporting community initiatives and social impact projects, Glencar has provided funding to enable twenty StreetDoctors training sessions across the UK, empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to intervene in medical emergencies.
Glencar is the first construction company to partner with StreetDoctors, marking a significant milestone in the industry and reinforcing its commitment to making a positive impact beyond the built environment.
Glencar’s support will directly impact hundreds of young people, ensuring they receive essential training that puts young people at the center of emergency first-aid provision.
So far, the partnership has ensured successfully delivered training programs in Luton, Brent and Leeds, with upcoming programs in Birmingham and Manchester planned for March 2025.
Since 2008, StreetDoctors has been training young people across the UK in both the physical and psychological consequences of street violence through emergency first-aid provision.
StreetDoctors empowers young people to become part of the solution to violence through dedicated training which is delivered by a movement of over 300 young healthcare volunteers (nurses, paramedics and doctors).
Volunteers work in partnership with a wide variety of services where young people may be active: criminal justice services, schools, pupil referral units, youth, sports and community groups.
In 2024, StreetDoctors has set a new delivery record and reached over 13,566 young people nationally.
Denise Southard, Glencar’s Social Value Manager commented: “At Glencar, we believe in creating lasting change—not just in the projects we deliver, but in the communities we support. StreetDoctors is doing incredible work in equipping young people with the skills to save lives, and we are proud to contribute to expanding their reach.”
StreetDoctors Relationship and Investment Manager, Gerard Mitchel, said: “We are grateful to Glencar for showing us not only financial support to deliver more sessions to young people nationally, but supporting our overall mission in empowering young people to keep themselves and others safe. Glencar are leading the way in showing other corporate organisations that StreetDoctors is a worthwhile investment that can have real impact across our communities”.
StreetDoctors is a registered charity (Charity number 1150925, SC 046981), and is currently looking for other grant makers and corporate organisations to support StreetDoctors through long term partnerships and corporate social responsibility programs.
