Scarlett Ash

Learning & Development Coordinator

I support the development and delivery of our training sessions in the North. This involves working with young people who have attended StreetDoctors’ programmes and want to enhance their learning and development further through our Young Leaders project.

Why StreetDoctors?

Working in a trauma-informed, asset-based way is hugely important to me. It was evident that joining StreetDoctors would enable me to meet young people where they are in their lives, support them to look after their wellbeing and empower them to make a positive difference in their communities. I’m a big champion of volunteering and the wide-ranging benefits it can have, so I was really impressed by the peer-to-peer training model at StreetDoctors and wanted to play a part in supporting the volunteers who give their time to the organisation.

Background

My experience stems from many years managing volunteers in different settings. My previous role involved supporting with lived experience of domestic abuse to become peer support volunteers. I used to work for a youth zone and was responsible for a programme for young people aged 16+ taking their first steps into working life, delivering training on topics such as youth work, safeguarding and facilitation skills.

Outside of StreetDoctors

I’m a keen parkrunner, volunteering at my local event and travelling as far as Italy to tick off a parkrun course! Music and dancing are major passions of mine – tap dancing is one of the ways I unwind outside of work and I always like to have plenty of live music events in my calendar. My latest goal is to learn how to DJ!
