Volunteer Spotlight: Millie-Mae Adams

My name is Millie-Mae, I’m the Team Leader for Exeter Street Doctors.

I am a third year medical student at Exeter University, with hopes of a career in surgery.

I have volunteered with StreetDoctors since January 2023 and have delivered sessions in Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff and Caerphilly.

I joined StreetDoctors as I grew up in a less affluent area of Cardiff where I witnessed a lot of crime and violence – I wanted to use skills gained in medical school to empower young people in the community.
As a proud Welsh speaker, I believe our sessions should be accessible to all and I coordinated the first ever Welsh Language Street Doctors session which was a really proud moment for me.

We are pleased to share that after being crowned Miss Wales in 2023, Millie-Mae qualified for the 2025 Miss World contest, choosing to highlight the issue of knife crime and StreetDoctors’ work at the month-long pageant in India. We’re proud to share that Millie-Mae went on to win Beauty with a Purpose in Europe for her ongoing work with StreetDoctors, and has since been crowned Miss UK.
