I support the development of volunteering projects and impact reporting for StreetDoctors nationally. I have been a volunteer and team leader for our East London team and I wrote my dissertation on Hospital Based Violence Intervention Programmes.

Vishal Chahwala Trustee

Vishal supports the development of volunteering projects and impact reporting for StreetDoctors nationally.

He believes a public health approach allows violence to be viewed as a preventable consequence rather than an inevitable outcome. He is a strong advocate for StreetDoctors’ peer-to-peer model, in which young healthcare students work directly with young people most at risk of violence, empowering them to become lifesavers and active participants in conversations and solutions around street violence.

Vishal is a medical student at Barts & The London and has taken a year out of his studies to work for StreetDoctors. He has volunteered and served as a team leader for the East London team, and he wrote his dissertation on Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Programmes.

When he’s not catching a flight to somewhere in Europe for the weekend, he can usually be found exploring East London’s markets, sampling food from around the world, and adding to his record collection.
