Nick Maughan CBE, Patron
The StreetDoctors Board
Our Board of Trustees brings together a diverse group of leaders with expertise in healthcare, education, youth justice, and governance, guiding StreetDoctors with strategic vision, accountability, and a shared commitment to reducing street violence.
Jane Harwood, Chair of Board
Jane has operated as a senior executive across multiple organisations in both the public and private sectors and has also run her own consultancy business. Much of her career was spent in policing, and she retired in 2019 from Surrey Police as an Assistant Chief Officer.
David Bell, Trustee Treasurer
David has been Treasurer of StreetDoctors since 2018. He has always been in awe of the exceptional energy, enthusiasm, creative thinking, and commitment that the young volunteer health professionals and the staff team bring.
Helen Berresford, Trustee
Helen has spent her career improving policy and practice for disadvantaged young people and adults.
Dr Katie Aston OBE, Trustee
Katie’s day job is leading on partnerships for Crime and Policing at the Home Office, a role that brings her into contact with many voluntary organisations, including those focused on combating serious violence.
Dr Luke Swithenbank, Trustee
Luke first came across StreetDoctors while studying medicine at the University of Leeds. Wondering why such unique and potentially life-saving teaching wasn’t already available in the city, he set up the Leeds branch in 2013 with a group of his peers.
Vishal Chahwala, Trustee
Vishal supports the development of volunteering projects and impact reporting for StreetDoctors nationally.
He believes a public health approach allows violence to be viewed as a preventable consequence rather than an inevitable outcome. He is a strong advocate for StreetDoctors’ peer-to-peer model after serving as a team leader for the StreetDoctors East London team.
