Jo Broadwood, CEO, looks back over her five years at StreetDoctors.

After five exciting years with StreetDoctors, Jo Broadwood, our CEO, announces she is moving on.

We are delighted to announce a new partnership project with two other youth charities, Khulisa and RedThread, and an innovative and forward thinking funder, Better Communities, Business Network.

To be able to have a positive influence on young people in my community is incredibly rewarding, and is why I volunteer.

I truly believe educating a young person can impact their decision to carry a knife and therefore reduce the violence we are currently seeing.

StreetDoctors advocates for viewing violence as a public health issue and adopting a holistic approach to working with young people. This starts with listening to them.

I told all 700 students with certainty that if I had continued my down my original path I would have been taught by StreetDoctors!

I know that when recruitment comes again in September, I will be encouraging potential volunteers who seem “just a little bit curious” to come to and see what StreetDoctors is all about.

StreetDoctors is about working as a team to give power to young people to change their actions. It’s about giving them the confidence to save lives.

I learn as much from the stories, courage and comradery of the young people we train in the StreetDoctors sessions as they learn from us volunteers.
